Is REBEL a Certified B Corporation and what does that mean?Updated 5 days ago

REBEL is proud to be a Certified B Corporation, which is a formal recognition of our commitment to social and environmental responsibility. But what exactly does that mean? Essentially, Certified B Corp status is like a certification for companies that want to use business as a force for good. To earn it, we had to undergo a thorough assessment of our practices – everything from our environmental impact to how we treat employees and engage with our community was evaluated. We needed to meet high standards across the board, and we also had to incorporate commitments to those standards into our company’s legal governing documents. In short, as a B Corp, we’re held accountable to not just make a profit, but also to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
For REBEL, being a B Corp is a natural extension of our mission. Our whole business model is about reducing waste and promoting sustainability, so the environmental part is baked in. But the B Corp certification also signals that we run our company responsibly in many other ways – like fair labor practices, diversity and inclusion, and community giving. We’re transparent about our performance in these areas and continuously work to improve. In fact, B Corps have to recertify periodically and show improvement, so it’s an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement.
In our industry of recommerce/retail, being a B Corp sets us apart. It’s still relatively rare, which is why we’re thrilled to have earned it. It tells our customers, partners, and employees that REBEL isn’t just talk when we discuss values – we have verified processes and results to back it up. So when you see that B Corp logo associated with REBEL, you can trust that we genuinely measure our success by more than sales figures; we measure it by our impact on our community and our planet as well. It’s all part of being, well, a “rebel” in the retail world – doing things differently, and better, for the greater good.
